1. The Four Pillars of Our Privacy Architecture

Unlike conventional dating platforms that treat user data as advertising collateral, HIVMatchUK operates under a strict Privacy-by-Design philosophy:

A. Granular Profile & Photo Visibility Controls

You decide exactly who can view your photos. You can choose:

  • Standard Community View: Visible only to logged-in, verified members of HIVMatchUK.
  • Blurred Photo Mode: Your images are obscured with an artistic blur until you personally approve a photo access request from another member.
  • Private Vault: Your photos remain hidden until you grant explicit 1-on-1 permission in private messaging.

B. Complete Search Engine Immunity

All member directories, profile pages, and user-generated introductions are strictly walled behind authentication with X-Robots-Tag: noindex, nofollow, noarchive and standard robots.txt directives. Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and AI crawlers cannot index or surface your profile. Only our public educational guides and regional resources are indexable.

C. Strict Data Minimisation

We collect only the bare essentials needed to deliver the dating experience. We never request your NHS number, medical records, or exact residential address. Broad regional approximations (such as “Hackney, London” or “South Manchester”) protect your neighborhood privacy.

D. Zero Third-Party Health Ad Tracking

We do not install Meta Pixel, Google Remarketing, or data-broker trackers on member pages. We believe your dating decisions and health context are neither an auction nor an advertising commodity.

2. Special Category Data Under UK GDPR (Article 9)

Information concerning health is classified as Special Category Personal Data under UK data protection law. Processing of this data requires explicit, freely given consent.

On HIVMatchUK:

  • You are never coerced into providing health data to browse or join.
  • You may withdraw your consent at any time from your account settings.
  • Withdrawing consent or deleting your account results in permanent data erasure from our production servers and routine backup archives.

3. Blocking, Moderation & Community Safety

Our platform is governed by zero-tolerance moderation guidelines:

  • Instant Two-Way Block: When you block an individual, they can no longer view your profile, see your photos, or send messages. The block is instantaneous and silent.
  • Discreet In-App Reporting: Any member engaging in harassment, intrusive questioning, or unsolicited disclosure of another person's health status is reviewed by our UK moderation team and subject to permanent account termination.
  • Discreet Push & Email Notifications: Push alerts and emails are sanitized so they never mention HIV or dating in the subject line or preview banner.

4. Data Deletion and Your Right to Erasure

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to be forgotten. You can delete your account at any moment through your Account Privacy dashboard:

What happens when you delete your account?

Your display name, photos, profile text, message transcripts, and account credentials are permanently wiped from our database. We do not retain "soft deleted" profile ghost copies.
